49Th FID Conference & Congress (1998)

International Federation for Information & Documentation (FID) will be holding 49th General Assembly, Conference and Congress in New Delhi during 11-17 October 1998. Indian National Scientific Documentation Centre (INSDOC) is organizing the event at New Delhi (India) with the support of a number of other organisations and professional societies in India.

General Information

Congress Dates : 11-17 October 1998
Congress Languages : English, French, Spanish

Visa Requirements : Foreign delegates should possess a valid passport and visa for India. Delegates planning to visit Kathmandu from India should apply for a multiple entry visa for India and a visa for Nepal.

Health Requirements: A vaccination certificate against yellow fever is required for visitors arriving/travelling through endemic areas in Africa and South America.

Weather: At the time of the congress, the climate in Delhi and Jaipur would be pleasant with clear blue skies and days filled with sunshine. The temperature normally would range between a minimum of 20 degress C and a maximum of 30 degree C.

Accommodation: New Delhi - Congress (14-17 October, 1998): Wide variety of hotels equal the finest in the world for their decor, modern facilities, international cuisine and above all their traditional Indian hospitality.

Jaipur - Pre-Congress (11-13 October, 1998): Stay in the famous palaces now converted into hotels to get a first-hand experience. Marble flooring, glittering chandeliers, priceless rugs and tapestries, exquisite silverware, soft-footed bearers and courteous service with all the trapping of the modern day living. Staying in the palace hotels of Jaipur is an experience by itself.
